Compare the Subaru Ascent & Chevy Traverse near Helena

Subaru Ascent v. Chevy Traverse: Which SUV is Right for You? Find Out, Below!

There's a lot to think about when you're purchasing a new crossover or SUV. Budget. Space. Features. Luxury Amenities. Safety. Technological accommodations. Reliability. Performance. With all the above parameters in mind, not to mention the added challenge of pleasing all your family members, if you're buying your next three-row crossover as a family vehicle, we get why buying an SUV can get stressful. Let us relieve some of the stress associated with finding the perfect SUV by offering this: there is no perfect SUV. Not for you, and not for anyone else. But some SUVs, like the Subaru Ascent, are certainly more well-rounded and feature-packed than others.

Interested? If you've been considering an Ascent but also have thought about driving a Chevy Traverse instead, allow us to make the decision between the two vehicles easier with the following point-by-point comparison!

Performance & Efficiency

The Subaru Ascent provides plenty of power for even your biggest, boldest adventures. That's because the new Ascent comes standard with a 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's tuned for both performance and efficiency. In fact, the Subaru BOXER® engine helps the Ascent achieve up to an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city/27 mpg highway. In contrast, the Chevy Traverse, when equipped with the available 255-horsepower four-cylinder engine option, offers up to an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway.

Capability and Space

Like other Subaru models, but unlike the Chevy Traverse, the Subaru Ascent boasts all the confidence and convenience of standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive. Thanks to this intelligent AWD system, the Subaru Ascent is easy to maneuver over rough road conditions or when the weather takes a turn for the worse. The Chevy Traverse, to be fair, does offer AWD, too - but it will cost you extra. Still, both the Traverse and Ascent offer capability aplenty aside from just AWD capability. Both SUVs provide seating for up to eight passengers, along with easily-configurable cargo areas you can customize by folding the third or second and third rows of seating down.

Technology & Infotainment

SUBARU STARLINK™ touchscreen infotainment with smartphone streaming capability comes standard in every new Subaru Ascent, making weekday commutes, weekend staycations, and extended long-distance road-trips more fun and engaging! The Chevy Traverse also comes standard with a competitively-equipped touchscreen infotainment system to easily access content from your smartphone or your favorite radio station.

Safety Features

The new Subaru Ascent comes standard with Subaru EyeSight®, a system of driver aids and active safety technologies that works like a second set of eyes to focus on the road ahead, and whatever it may bring, even while you're distracted. While EyeSight® is no substitute for safe, defensive driving, it certainly can go a long way in helping you and your precious cargo stay safer on the roads of Montana City, Helena Valley, and beyond. The Chevy Traverse, while available with active safety features like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and many others that come standard in Subaru EyeSight®, doesn't provide any of these things standard. The Traverse, though, does offer standard Teen Driver technology to help set limits when others are behind-the-wheel.
